National service & the OMBAC connection
Dr. Ned Chambers served as OMBAC’s team physician from 1988 to 1991 and accompanied the USA Eagles on their 1989 New Zealand tour, according to his US Rugby Foundation biography. In Stanford’s 2021 alumni memories he also recalls serving as doctor for the U.S. rugby team. He graduated from Stanford, earned his medical degree at Cincinnati and practised family medicine in Point Loma for more than forty years. The family memorial identifies him formally as Edward Hampton Chambers (1951–2023). Its photograph shows him on the right with his wife and dog; it is a family portrait, not a national-team image.
