National service & the OMBAC connection
Mike French earned eight USA fifteens caps from 2005 to 2007, with four starts and four replacement appearances. His debut came against Wales in Hartford on June 4, 2005. Ireland’s federation lists him as an OMBAC prop in its 2006 Churchill Cup announcements; Cal’s 2007 preview also names him in OMBAC’s front row and notes his nationally ranked wrestling background at Cal Poly. Cal Poly’s official record book lists four NCAA wrestling championship qualifications: 177 pounds in 1996 and 1997, 190 in 1998, and 197 in 1999. He was named among the standby reserves for the 2007 Rugby World Cup, rather than the traveling 30-player squad.
The original spreadsheet entry S. The photographs beside the NCAA qualifier lists in Cal Poly’s record book identify other wrestlers, not French; none is assigned to him.
